NBA: Dallas Mavericks continue trading, send Grimes to 76ers

After trading Luka Doncic on Sunday, February 2, the Dallas Mavericks continue shaking their line-up.
Recently, the Mavs sent Quentin Grimes to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Caleb Martin. The Sixers will also receive a second-round pick in the deal.
The 24-year-old Grimes is currently averaging 10.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while shooting a career-best 39.8 percent from the three-point range.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Martin is averaging 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a primary starter during his first season in Philadelphia. He then proved that he’s a playoff performer when he averaged 9.1 PPG on 40.1 percent shooting from the three-point area in 45 career postseason games, including the 2023 NBA Finals run of the Miami Heat.
The Mavs and Grimes engaged in discussions about a contract extension in the fall, but sources said the sides did not come close to striking a deal. Sources said that Grimes wanted a deal in the range of the full mid level exception — a $12.8 million starting salary — while the Mavs valued him on a contract similar to free agent addition Naji Marshall's three-year, $27 million deal.
As the front office of the Mavericks continue tweaking their roster, there’s still an expectation that they will pull-off another one before the trade deadline comes.
